I’m standing here a proud American after what Slipstream did at the Giro. Yea they have a very strong team for time trialling. But I really wasn’t sure how well they would go in a race as prestigious as the Giro. They placed first and got Christian Vande Velde a day in the Magna Rosa. I think that says a lot for the American based squad.
They didn’t hang onto the pink jersey after the second day of racing but for the young team to have this level of success at the Giro certainly justifies the Italians for inviting them. I look forward to observing how they do for the rest of the race.
The Giro with Astana inclusion, and the American Slipstream squad competing, makes it one of my favorite, if not favorite, race all year.
